The Leaders Teaching Leaders Process


Audience

A team of approximately 20 leaders whose development has been are identified as critical to the future of the organization

Support global growth and expansion goals by accelerating the development of key leadership skills, knowledge, and abilities throughout the organization.

Develop a targeted, action-oriented, and results-driven leadership development experience for highest potential leaders that is scalable, customizable, and easily integrated with current and future key human capital processes

Overview

The Leaders Teaching Leaders Process (LTLP) is an exclusive partnership between select organizations and Linkage. It's a year long, sustainable leadership development process that leverages internal and external expertise to dramatically increase the number of qualified leaders for future leadership positions.

LTLP combines best practices in leadership development to accelerate the growth of senior and/or emrging leaders. Participants receive the following instruction and learning exposure:
  1. Leadership development advisory services from Linkage is CEO, Phil Harkins

  2. Proprietary and Proven Assessment Instruments

  3. Each participant is responsible for creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to be approved by their manager

  4. Participation in GILD, a world class leadership development program

  5. Expert leadership coaching

  6. Blended learning using world renowned faculty in 8 Excellence in Management Leadership Series (EMLS) broadcast sessions via satellite, videoconferencing and web broadcasts and/or DVD/VHS extended view

  7. Additional on-site customized one-day skill-building sessions threaded over the course of the year covering critical leadership topics

  8. Peer learning networks with other LTLP member organizations

Process Component Descriptions
  1. Partner with Phil Harkins to design your customized curriculum

    What is achieved?
    A scalable and easily executable process design that is customized to deliver maximum strategic value for the organization

    How does it work?
    • Combines the focus of internal expertise with the power of external services and products to deliver a superior development experience
    • LTLP components are structured to be both scalable and customizable
    • LTLP components are modularized and presented in a manner that is highly executable

  2. Proprietary Assessments

    What is achieved?
    Tangible feedback for the participants and the organization that leads to insight, direction, focused action, and measurable improvement

    How does it work?
    • We offer an assortment of valid assessment instruments (offered online or paper-based, self or 360°) that can be folded into the process
    • Programming is structured to enable easy integration of non-Linkage instruments
    • Linkage's expertise in competency modeling and instrument construction provides the ability to customize any instrument to meet the organization's unique goals and needs

  3. Individual Development Planning

    What is achieved?
    Translate "development" into actionable goals for behavior change that will help participants to overcome their leadership challenges, better leverage their strengths, and ultimately deliver better results

    How does it work?
    • Formal Individual Development Plans via Linkage's Leadership Blueprint™
    • Each plan is grounded in data from 360° Assessment Instrument
    • Participants are guided by Expert Executive Coaches in the formation and execution of their plans

  4. Participation in the Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD)

    What is achieved?
    Now in its 11th year, The Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD) is a five-day, competency-based, distinctive learning experience that accelerates the development of emerging and senior leaders.

    How does it work?
    In addition to the wealth of benefits GILD offers, LTLP participants receive additional value including:
    • Special orientation session to GILD, which includes instruction on maximizing the GILD experience and a primer on networking
    • Real-time sessions at GILD, which allows participants to share key learnings, ensure development objectives are being met, and customize remaining program
    • A half-day action planning session at GILD, which produces concrete action plans for each participant and closure as a team

  5. Access to a Leadership Coach

    What is achieved?
    Provide participants with the support system needed to make real, accelerated, and measurable improvement in their key leadership behaviors.

    How does it work?
    • Over three hours of one-on-one coaching with a highly skilled leadership coach
    • With over 50 leadership coaches to choose from, each participant is ensured a partnership with a coach that fits his/her style and development needs
    • Coaching relationship can be easily extended to provide additional support throughout the year (additional option)

  6. The Excellence in Management & Leadership Series Broadcasts (EMLS)

    What is achieved?
    World-class continuous and practical learning and development in the competencies proven to differentiate superior leadership

    How does it work?
    • A world-class faculty of leaders and leadership thought leaders such as Marshall Goldsmith, C.K. Prahalad, Warren Bennis, Clayton Christensen, John Kotter and many more. (8 sessions throughout the year)
    • Convenient, flexible, and scalable format via technology-enabled blended learning methods (i.e. satellite, videoconferencing & web, as well as extended view on DVD/on-line)
    • Program materials filled with practical tools and exercises designed to reinforce behavior change and help participants apply the learning to their day-to-day work

  7. On-Site Skill Building

    What is achieved?
    To complement and build-on the GILD learnings, we provide onsite skill-building designed to hone the leadership skills essential to producing better results. Our experts will work closely with your leadership development practitioners to identify the critical leadership skills that fit the specific needs of the group.

    How does it work?
    • More than 30 highly-rated, action-oriented learning workshops to choose from
    • Each workshop provides a highly interactive forum with role playing, simulations, case studies, and action planning based on real-life business challenges
    • Resource development guides provide session materials and post-program practice activities for continual improvement

  8. Peer learning networks with other LTLP member organizations

    What is achieved?
    Provides the internal LD champions in LTLP member organizations with a valuable network that offers access to best practices, new ideas, advice and feedback, information and materials, and early indicators on key or emerging trends - benefits that all extend beyond the confines of their company or industry.

    How does it work?
    • Two annual network meetings, the first taking place at Linkage's Best of Organizational Development Summit and the second at GILD, provide rich, immersive discussion that deepens personal connections
    • Three facilitated teleconferences providing deep dives on hot topics every few months
    • Access to cutting-edge research filled with data-driven analysis and best-practice benchmarks
